"Cumberland Gap" is an Appalachian folk song that likely dates back to the latter half of the 19th century and was first recorded in 1924. On April 12, 1957, British musician Lonnie Donegan reached number one on the UK Singles Chart with a skiffle version of "Cumberland Gap." His rendition spent five weeks at the top of the chart.
