It was the Mary Hopkin's debut single, released on August 30, 1968. "Those Were the Days" was produced by Paul McCartney and arranged by Richard Hewson. The song became a number one hit on the UK Singles Chart in September 25, 1968, remining on the top for 6 weeks. In the US reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was featured on her debut album Post Card.
