Edwin Starr - War

"War" is a counterculture protest song against the Vietnam War. It was written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong in 1969. It was first released in 1970 by The Temptations. In the same year Edwin Starr covered the song. His version was released on June 10, 1970 as the lead single from his album "War & Peace". The single rechaed the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 29, 1970 a position that it held for 3 weeks.
