In 1990 Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor recorded a version of the song for her second studio album, I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got (1990). It was released in January 8, 1990, as the album's second single in early 1990 and became a worldwide hit. In UK the song peaked the Offical Chart on 3 February 1990 and remained for 4 weeks. In the United States it spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, from April 21, 1990.
